FCC v Gubbays CC

By | May 8, 2011

Fulmer 177 for 4

Gubbays CC 176 all out

Fulmer won by 6 wickets

Gubbays won the toss and elected to bat. Ali and Manu Kapila opened the bowling with Manu weaving his magic spin to be quickly among the wickets. They were four down without many on the scoreboard with Sajjad showing the only early resistance with a score of 24.

Rahan Senior came to the crease and set about making a challengeable score eventually falling to Manu Sharma for a well deserved 55. Zafar(15), Asim (11) and Nabeez (18) noodled the score up to 176. Bowling honours went to Manu Kapila (33 for 3) and Manu Sharma (33 for 3). Prash was very effective at 5 runs for his 2 wickets with Mark Overall and a run out accounting for the rest.

Prash and Danny set about the run chase in a fairly lively manner which was a little disturbing for our opposition. The high tensions spilled over into an incident with the normally unflappable Prash. Prash did the talking with his bat making a very worthwhile 55. Earlier Danny (10), Ali (3) and Nick (1) had come and gone pretty swiftly.

These quick wickets gave Gubbays an air of optimism before Sukhi chimed in with a hard hitting innings of 38 not out, well supported by a similarly aggressive innings of 27 not out from Manu Sharma. Overall it was a comfortable victory.
