FCC v Old Fullerians

By | July 10, 2011

Fulmer 164 for 8

Old Fullerians 169 for 6

Old Fullerians won by 4 wickets

Fulmer won the toss and elected to bat. Prash was uncharacteristically out for a duck but Ali 14 and Nick 11 put on a bit of a partnership. Mark came to the rescue with a well struck 37.

Del had a good time at the crease with a very useful 26, three two’s, sprinkled amongst four fours. Tam helped out with 17 while Graham Yendall made a quick fire 13 off four connections with the willow.

Pete Milne continued with his infinity average clocking up 10 not out to help us to 168 all out. David Lewy, OFCC’s skipper, took the bowling honours of 5 wickets for 32 runs.

Our score was probably never going to be enough on our very good batting strip. The bowlers, however, set out about their task in a determined manner.

We managed to get a couple of early wickets, courtesy of some penetrating bowling from Mark Denness (43/3). Their opener, Bullied,  who eventually went on to make a match winning innings of 83 not out kept Old Fullerians on top.

He was supported by a couple of other batsman with scores in their twenties. We used 7 bowlers in an attempt to keep the pressure on with some success. In addition to Mark the other wicket takers were Del 13/1, Jules 26/1 and Paul 17/1.

In the end, our efforts were in vain as the Old Fullerians reached the score of the old, young and middle-aged Fulmerians with four wickets to spare. Honours even between the two clubs this season!

Lewy also bowled some absolute filth and an inexplicable no ball!
