FCC v Little Marlow
By Fulmer CC | September 11, 2011
Fulmer 161 for 3
Little Marlow 160 for 7
FCC won by 7 wickets
The return fixture against Little Marlow saw Fulmer wishing to gain revenge for defeat very early on in the season. On a firm and fair wicket the decision was taken by Del to field first having won the toss.
Ali and Zeeshan shared the opening 10 overs to good effect with Ali only conceding 11 runs off his 5, and Zeeshan 19 off his. Zeeshan got the only wicket to fall in this time with a ball that bounced and left the opener, taking the edge of his bat and almost fooling Fish behind the stumps who somehow managed to keep hold of it.
Matthews (26) and Sharif (35) rebuilt with a good and steady stand facing some awkward and accurate bowling by Tam (7-0-18-0) and Gurvinder (8-2-23-0). The introduction of Prash (7-0-37-3) and Paul (7-0-43-3) and the need to push the scoring along brought a rush of runs, but with it a series of wickets as well. For Little Marlow, Farooq hit a breezy 57, but the remaining batsmen did not contribute very many. The innings ended on 160 for 7 from the allotted 40 overs.
The Fulmer reply started steadily with Jules (3) and Prash putting on 24 for the first wicket, Zeeshan scored a rapid 16 in a 30 runs stand for the second, before James King (17) and Prash broke the back of the required runs with a partnership of 89 seeing Fulmer to within 18 runs of the Little Marlow total before James was out.
A rapid 13 by Ali (including 2 sixes) did not prevent Prash reaching his 3rd hundred of the season finishing on exactly 100 not out, with the total of 161 for the loss of three wickets off 28.2 overs.
The Fulmer win continues a successful season, in spite of only having 10 players on the day.
