Iver Heath v FCC
By Fulmer CC | September 18, 2011
Fulmer 169 all out
Iver Heath 224 for 8
FCC lost by 55 runs
We lost the toss and were asked to bowl. We had Colin Terry out cheaply but then were confronted by a couple of very handy bats Seymour (74) and S Morris (68). They batted very competently and scored pretty quickly. Their 105 partnership was a great foundation and while we took wickets reasonably regularly after that, with no other bat making more than 16 they were on target for a good total.
Tam bowled tightly with figures of 1 wicket for 16 runs but Prash was the pick of the bowlers with a jug-buying performance of 5 wickets for 45. This included the caught and bowled of Seymour. Del took the other big wicket of Morris and Sukhi was the other wicket taker.
Armando’s fielding is worthy of note. He dived to take a difficult catch on the fine leg boundary, dropped it but saved the ball from going for 4. His exploits drew a lot of blood which he had to attend to off the field. Iver Heath lent us a fielder, which was a nice gesture, before he stoically returned the fray. A trip to the hospital the next day identified a broken finger!
Arslan and Ali opened the batting and made a solid start of 30 before Ali had a rush of blood and was out for 10. Sukhi batted nicely for 28 but with a big score to chase all our batsman tried to get after the bowlers.
Arslan was out for a solid 42 and then there was a general procession of wickets with Prash 16, Nick 10, Pete Milne 16, Peter 9, Del 0 and Armando 1.
A late insert into the team at number 11 was Ian who had turned up as a spectator but, with a few pints under the belt, decided to help out. He hit the first ball for 6 and scored another 1 before Tam skyed one to end the innings.
We enjoyed a few beers with the Iver Heath lads who were playing their last ever match as Iver Heath. We wish them all the best as they move forward as a Sunday side with Farnham Royal next season.
