2012 Awards

We held our very successful awards evening in the pavilion at King George’s Field on 6 October 2012. It was excellent to see the high level of support from players, their families and friends. Kay Keane did a marvellous job with the catering, providing us with a range of home cooked curries and an excellent semi freddo.

Ian Fisher had kept the statistics up to date during the season which allowed us to hold the event and make the awards less than a week after our last match. Great job, Ian.

The 2012 Award Winners

Most Wickets: Ali (49)

Ali bowled some wonderful spells and was unlucky not to have taken many more wickets and just missed the 50 mark. Here’s to next year.

Best Bowling in a Match: Ali (8 for 23)

It was a tremendous effort against Little Marlow that saw him pip Arjan Purba, one of our youngsters, who had held the mantle for most of the season with 6 for 20.

Best Bowling Average: Ernest Thakurdas (8.32)

Ernest was one our new players this year and was very accurate with his economical off-breaks. A lesson in efficiency, in more ways than one.

Best Young Player: Manan Kapila and Arjan Purba

It was delightful to see these two young cricketers in the team. They both made a tremendous contribution and we encourage them to continue to develop their cricketing skills.

Most Improved: James King

James was a very good contributor to the team both on and off the field, making his highest ever innings of 45, bowling accurately in taking 10 wickets and wicket keeping with great skill in a number of matches.

Best Fielder: Paul Colloff

Net catches taken is one of the guides used by the Committee and Paul came out on top. He is also almost impassable when fielding at mid-on or mid-off.

Players’ Player: Paul Colloff

As the award suggests, this award is based on the votes of our players. It is a reflection of the players’ appreciation of Paul’s unstinting dedication both on and off the field.

Duck Cup: Armando Borges

Armando is one of the most popular players at the Club but he did not trouble the scorer this year, albeit that one of his innings was 0 not out.

Outstanding Contribution to the Club:  Tansy Peters

For the second year running the Club would like to acknowledge the tremendous support that Tansy provides with teas, bar duties and general efforts of keeping order with attention to detail. Our players and guests at the awards evening commented on the shininess of the Award Cups. Guess who was responsible?

Chairman’s Award: Prash Kumar

Prash took on one of the vice-captain’s position for the first time this year and inherited a huge workload. Thanks to these efforts and with the help of Tony and Derrick we only had to cancel one match for lack of fielding a team.

Raffle and the 30 Club

Our supporters contributed generously to the 30 Club and raffle and most families present took home some booty. The Club thanks both them and the Committee members who supplied the prizes and Armando for his selling skills.
