FCC v Ruislip Orientals CC

By | August 4, 2013

Ruislip 325 for 8 off 40 overs
Fulmer 183 all out
FCC lost by 142 runs

Ali returned to losing ways when tossing the coin wrongly and losing, so Ruislip decided to bat first.

In their usual style things were played at a hectic pace (from the batting perspective) with the first over from Will going for a four and a six. Fortunately for Fulmer it also included a wicket. This was but a small respite for things to come as it brought in Pallav. Dropped when in single figures he went on to make 139.

The third wicket for Ruislip had a partnership of 129 before Hardick and quickly Naresh went. Vishal came in and was dropped first ball, but then made a rapid 45. The two dropped catches by Fulmer didn’t cost too much then!

Eventually the carnage subsided and Ruislip scored 325 off their allotted 40 overs. The bowling figures don’t bear mention other than Arslan got three wickets, Will and Nomi two each and Ali one. The other bowlers were Ernest, Danny and Sukhi. Worth mentioning was that Fulmer managed to bowl 40 overs in just under three hours, although helped by almost three overs in wides!

So after tea FCC faced a task of scoring at more than 8 an over…

Sukhi and Arslan started the run chase with gusto, scoring 14 off the first over, ten off the second and 15 off the third.

Sukhi fell for 12, followed by Ali first ball. Fish scored 23, but when Arslan went for 43 and Vikram for 0 Fulmer reached 90 for 5, which didn’t look too hopeful.

Nomi (51) and Will (33) put on 58 for the sixth wicket and Will and Daniel (11) put on another 35, but the end was in sight with Fulmer eventually being all out for 183.

A loss by 142 runs didn’t spoil the day as everyone enjoyed the game of cricket.
