Aldenham CC v FCC

By | June 21, 2014

Aldenham 167 all out off 37 overs
Fulmer 203 for 7 off 43 overs
Fulmer won by 36 runs

On arrival at Aldeham’s ground FCC discovered they were one short of the full complement of 11, but this was negated on the news that Aldenham only had nine starters.

Manu went out for the toss and, having won, decided that Fulmer would make first use of what appeared a good batting track.

Nigel and Venkat went out to see what the wicket was really like and duly put on 27 for the first wicket in the first five overs before Venkat perished. Mustafa (27) and Nigel then put on 68 and a brief flurry of wickets occurred with Braj, Fish, Manan and Hasham and finally Nigel (for an excellent 50) came and went.

With the score on 150 for 7 after 37 overs it looked as if Fulmer might have come up short on a good wicket. Some great hitting by Vivek (47*) ably supported by Samveg, however, pushed the total along to 203 for 7 at tea. Manu was not required to bat and Fulmer declared at tea to maximise the time to get Aldenham out.

Three early wickets gave Fulmer a bit of hope, but skipper Hewett (42) and Barot (66) restored the balance to Aldenham. Once they went, though, wickets fell fairly regularly.

A good fielding display by Fulmer saw five catches taken and all the bowlers did their stuff. Venkat, Hasham and Braj got one wicket each with support from Mustafa.

The star of the day was Manu who bowled 15 overs in two spells taking five wickets for just 48 runs. Fulmer winning by 36 runs being an excellent result on the day. We look forward to the return fixture in four weeks time.
