By | September 16, 2014

Fulmer 209 for 8 off 35 overs
Old Fullerians 225 for 2 off 35 overs
Fulmer lost by 6 wickets

As it was World Cup Final day it was agreed to reduce the game to 35 overs each so that our guests could get home in time for the kick off. The toss was won by Old Fullerians who decided to bat first.

They started brightly, but both fell having scored 20 and 21 runs. This brought Dyson and captain Lewy to the crease, who duly went about the Fulmer bowling with relish.

Of the seven bowlers used (Nomi, Manu, Venkat, Ali, Paul C, Prash and Jules) only Nomi got away lightly with just 12 runs off his seven overs, including two maidens and one wicket. The other wicket to fall went to Ali. The only upside to the bowling was that the 35 overs only took 2 hours 10 minutes to complete.

After tea, provided by Manu, Ali and Venkat went about the task of chasing down a relatively daunting run rate of more than 6 an over. The pace started off carefully and after 7 overs only 20 runs were on the board. Venkat was run out going for a suicidal run for 15, but Prash and Ali both scored 50s in moving the score along until Ali fell for 59.

Nomi blasted a very quick fire 27 to up the run rate, but Prash (55), Manan, Jules and Fish perished trying to maintain it. The “not so young” heads of Del and Manu, then Armando and Manu got Fulmer with site of the finishing line, but fell just short with a total of 209 for eight. A tight game to the end, with the edge just going to the visitors.

Rebellion Moment: None! Especially the fielding
