Rebellion moment: Katie’s fifer

Fulmer welcomed our well established but much changed rivals Rivets to KGF on a pleasant Saturday afternoon. Rivets won the toss and had little hesitation in choosing to bat.

Fulmer were soon among the wickets with James (6 overs, 1-10) breaking the opening partnership by hitting the stumps of one of their openers. Wickets fell steadily with only Aqeel (52) and Bilaly (26) making significant contributions.

Paul picked up 2 for 34 from his 8 over spell. Pete bowled 6 overs (0-33) without much luck from the road end, and Ernest’s brief spell was curtailed by injury having picked up 1-18 off his 4 overs.

It was then time to unleash Katie on Rivet’s middle and lower order which resulted in spectacular and richly deserved figures of 7.3 overs 5-22. Jules chipped in with a 4 over spell picking up 1-16. Rivets innings ended with their 133 coming off 35.3overs.

Both teams then sat down to enjoy an excellent Chairman’s Tea.
After Tea, Julian and Keith set about making inroads into Rivets fairly modest total. Unfortunately having both reached double figures they were both dismissed.

This brought together the pairing of Nigel and Prash who both soon began to play in an accomplished and measured way securing the victory in the 35th over recording a century partnership in the process. Nigel finished on 46 not out and Prash 43 not out.

This reporter is pleased to note that Katie’s Grandad was present and even more pleased to report that Keith bought a jug to mark Katie’s outstanding achievement!
