FCC v Aldenham

By | July 18, 2015

Fulmer 135 all out off 39.2 overs
Aldenham 136 for 6 off 32 overs
Fulmer lost by four wickets

Skipper Tony did the honours and, having called successfully, opted to make first use of the wicket. A good theory, but not helped when Fish and Prash were back in the pavilion with just five runs on the  board.

That, however, just gave Keith and James the chance to shine with a 70 run partnership before James, then shortly after Keith, both went for 35 runs each.

Will, returning after being AWOL for this season, Junaid, Paul C and Paul W added a few runs apiece which, with valuable contributions from Mark (18), Tony (17) and extras (11) took the Fulmer total to 135 all out with Phil being stranded without facing a ball. Young Munroe was the pick of the Aldenham bowlers with a well-deserved five-fer.

After an excellent debut tea by Ally, Fulmer went out to see if they could defend the low total.

Some tight opening bowling by James (8-0-32-3) and Junaid (8-0-28-1) meant a slow start for Aldenham and after 16 overs the game was finely poised with the visitors on 61 for 4.

Some good bowling by Mark and Will kept the runs down, a wicket each for Paul C and Prash and an over from Paul W could not delay the inevitable, but it took Aldenham 32 overs to reach the target. An Aldenham win, but at least they had to fight for it.

On a more poignant note the afternoon was graced by the presence of Kate and Andy on a final visit to Fulmer before heading off for their new lives in Canada. Fulmer CC wishes them well and would like to thank Andy for his contribution over the years both on the field and off, as FCC Honourable Secretary.
