Harrow Willow v FCC

By | August 30, 2015

Fulmer 206 for 8 off 40 overs
Harrow Willow 206 for 6 off 35.2 overs
Fulmer lost by four wickets

This was a new fixture and so we headed off to the wilds of North Wembley. We were joined by three new players, Ravi, Sri and Suraj plus HW lent us a player to make 11.

Peter won the toss and decided to bat on what looked like a slow but tame wicket. Arslan (140) and Keith (31) opened batting but found the long grass on the outfield pretty difficult to penetrate. Also there was some tight bowling by HW. Our openers managed 89 off 22 overs before Keith was out bowled to a premeditated pull to leg.

The rest of our batsmen really struggled to get it past the fielders or the long grass and none made it to double figures. Kaz 1, Sukhi 4, Sri 3, Audi (borrowed from HW) 5, Suraj 3 and Mark 3 not out. It was left to Arslan, dropped at least three times, and extras (16) to take us to what looked like a defendable score.

HW opened with some pretty lively batting, going over the top and, therefore, avoiding the long grass! We managed to get the first three wickets for 14 or fewer but this brought the skipper to the crease.

His 71 not out, well supported by Ranganathan (26), Karthik (24) and extras 35 (byes 16 and leg byes 19), was a crucial innings that saw HW home in the 36th over.

Mark took two wickets and there was one each to Arslan, Kaz and Ravi with one run out from a accurate throw from Suraj.

The game was played in good spirit and Harrow Willow were friendly hosts.
