|Fulmer||132 all out off 28|
|Woodlands||133 for 5 off 37.4|
|Fulmer lost by 5 wickets|
We welcomed Woodlands to our very own Rosebowl, well, KGF, as we looked for a much sought after win.
We started very poorly with Faizal out to the first ball he faced and Ali caught for 1 off a pretty half hearted pull to square leg.
Murali (17) joined Nick (29) and they looked to steady the ship taking the score to 46 before Murali was out.
George (10) batted confidently but was out caught behind. Another collapse ensued with three ducks in a row – Suman, Sandeep and Peter.
This left Paul Joanides (who started the day with a pint of IPA before play… perhaps we should do the same) to bowl for a hat trick when he next takes to the field. He secured 6 wickets off his 8 overs of slow tweakers.
Nick followed shortly after but our score was rescued to some level of respectability by an astonishing innings of 33 from Simon and solid performance from Harry (14). Danny clobbered one 6 in his short innings of 12.
Following our tea break we were looking down the barrel of a trouncing with the openers putting on 58 before George came on to bowl and taking the openers’ wickets in consecutive overs.
Simon was given the ball to try some variation and chimed in with 3 quick wickets. With 5 down for 84 we were in with a shout.
Six dropped catches, however, not all on the last pair, our fielding let them off the hook. We managed to get them to the 38th over which made for interest right to the end.
Woodlands are a good bunch to play against and hopefully we can get two fixtures next year.
