Sunday 24th May vs Old Fullerians (Home)

Fulmer lost to Old Fullerians by 61 runs

Buoyed by a nerve-jangling last-ball victory the previous day, Fulmer arrived looking forward to another close game versus long-established opponents, Old Fullerians. The toss did not go Fulmer’s way, however, and a long, hot day in the field beckoned.

After an opening burst of real pace from Uzair (1 wicket) and Suleman (1 wicket), Old Fullerians began to pick off the bowling at will, and with a fast outfield the total quickly grew. Despite the best efforts of all in the field, and good bowling from Del Randall (1 wicket), Mark Overall (1 wicket) and Kartek (2 wickets), Old Fullerians finished on 217-8.

The feeling at tea was that, whilst it would take some getting, this wasn’t an insurmountable target.

Unfortunately Fulmers batting did not quite live up to its billing, with only Del Randall (35), stroking the ball around nicely, and Danny Jackson (23), with his usual crisp striking, offering any real resistance. As the evening light cast shadows over the pitch Fulmer ended up 156 all out, with the feeling that a couple of decent partnerships could have seen them make a real fist of the run chase.
